This newsreel segment documents the 24th annual Academy Awards. Footage includes exterior shots of the Pantages, and interior shots of the stage and decorative Oscars. Presenters Lucille Ball, Claire Trevor, George Sanders, and Greer Garson, host Danny Kaye, PWC representative Francis Holford, and, award winners Robert Youngson for WORLD OF KIDS, Karl Malden in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, and Humphrey Bogart in THE AFRICAN QUEEN are all included in the footage. The footage also includes a clip of Bette Davis accepting for Kim Hunter in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, followed by a series of shots of Kim Hunter in New York, and, Ronald Colman announcing the Best Actress winner Vivien Leigh for A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, which is followed by a clip of Leigh and Laurence Olivier backstage at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York.
