- Summary
There are 81 binders containing clippings, predominantly in the form of black-and-white photocopies and color fascimiles, of publicity for Marlon Brando, Gary Cooper, Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Brad Pitt, Elizabeth Taylor, and Natalie Wood. Arranged chronologically by year in three-ring binders; film titles within notebooks also progress chronologically.
- BiographyLionel Burton Buisch was a New York-born portrait artist. As a teenager he began acquiring movie magazines. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he studied acting in Los Angeles. In 1963 he moved back to New York, returning to Los Angeles in 1979. By 1986 he had created an extensive portfolio of portraits of Hollywood stars. His lifelong facination with movie actors led him to create an extensive clipping collection on Elizabeth Taylor and others.
- Marlon Brando was an American actor active in film from 1950 to 2001. Brando’s eight Academy Award nominations in the acting category include a statuette for best actor for ON THE WATERFRONT (1954).
- Gary Cooper was an American actor active from 1925 until his death in 1961. His appeared in over 100 films, including MEET JOHN DOE, BALL OF FIRE, SARATOGA TRUNK, and LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON, among many others. He was nominated for an Academy Award three times for Best Actor in a Leading Role for MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN, THE PRIDE OF THE YANKEES, and FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS, and he received the same award twice for SERGEANT YORK and HIGH NOON. He received an Honorary Academy Award in 1960.
- Ava Gardner was an American actress active from 1941 to 1986. She is best known for her work in films such as THE KILLERS, PANDORA AND THE FLYING DUTCHMAN, SHOW BOAT, THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA, ON THE BEACH, and THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA, among many others. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for MOGAMBO.

She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role for BUTTERFIELD 8 and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? She was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1993.
