Biography
William Castle was an American director and producer active from 1937 to 1975. Though his credits span over five dozen films in a variety of genres, he is best known for the horror films he made in the second half of his career, including HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, THE TINGLER, 13 GHOSTS, STRAIT-JACKET, and ROSEMARY’S BABY, which he produced. He is also remembered for the promotional stunts he devised for his films, such as having a skeleton fly over the audience during screenings of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL.
