Biography
John B. Goodman III was an American art director active in film from the 1920s through 1960s. He studied architecture before working at Famous Players Lasky from 1920 to 1927. In the 1930s he worked on Pathe, RKO, Warner Bros., and Paramount films. He served as supervising art director at Universal in the 1940s. Goodman received four nominations in the art direction category from 1938 to 1944 and received an Academy Award for PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1943). From 1950 to 1966 he worked at Nat Holt Pictures, Paramount, MGM, Republic, and the CBS Studio Center.
