Biography
Peter Lorre was an Austrian-born actor active in film, radio, and television from 1929 until his death in 1964. Following his performance as the murderous Hans Beckert in Fritz Lang’s M, he appeared in over seventy films in German, British, and American productions. Though his roles included the heroic detective in the Mr. Moto series, he is best known for his sinister, often slyly comedic turns in such films as THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1934), MAD LOVE, THE MALTESE FALCON, and CASABLANCA, as well as his late-career work in Roger Corman productions such as TALES OF TERROR and THE RAVEN.
