Biography
Robert Zigler Leonard was an American director, producer, actor, and screenwriter. He was a contract director at MGM from the mid-1920s through the mid-1950s. Leonard was nominated in the directing category for THE DIVORCÉE (1930) and THE GREAT ZIEGFELD (1936). Gertrude Olmsted, Leonard's second wife, was a leading actress in the 1920s. She entered the film industry after winning a 1920 beauty contest, in which the major prize was a contract with Universal. Among her films are TRILBY (1923) and MR. WU (1927).
