Ha Nguyen was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the US in 1975. She received a Fine Arts degree from San Diego State University and an Associate Arts degree in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Nguyen worked briefly in the fashion industry before she became a costume designer.
