Movie Magic was a documentary television series that ran from the Fall of 1993 until 1997 on the Discovery Channel. In 1997 Movie Magic was reworked as Mega Movie Magic (premiering in the Spring of 1997). Each episode of Movie Magic centers on a single type of special effect (“Matte Painting”), studio (“Jim Henson’s Creature Shop”) or trend (“Movie Rides”). The collection of Movie Magic episodes and related materials was donated to the Academy by GRB Entertainment. The collection includes full episodes, unedited interviews, production elements, and B-Roll footage.
