Public summaryIn an effort to understand why he and his friends all ran away from home when they were younger, filmmaker Bing Liu utilizes footage of his skateboarder friends that he shot over a twelve-year period in his hometown of Rockford, Illinois. Bing follows 23-year-old Zack during a tumultuous relationship with his girlfriend who is pregnant and as he becomes a father. 17-year-old Keire as he gets his first job while he is struggling with his racial identity and the death of his father. Bing explores the gap between fathers and sons, between discipline and domestic abuse, and ultimately the precarious chasm between childhood and becoming an adult.
