- Summary
The collection consists of Turner's research files on nearly 1,000 individual films, with an emphasis on genres that include adventure, crime, horror, monsters, and terror. The files contain a wide variety of materials, often including pressbook items, clippings, ads, programs, and photographs. There is also title art for JOHNNY DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (1944) and production design drawings by David Hall for KEEPER OF THE FLAME (1943).
- BiographyGeorge E. Turner was a film historian and author of "The Making of King Kong." He came to Hollywood in the late 1970s following a near 30-year career as the editorial art director of a daily newspaper in Texas. In Hollywood he served as the historian for the American Society of Cinematographers and edited the Society’s magazine, "The American Cinematographer." He also found work as a film and television storyboard artist.
