There is no information regarding his early career, nor is there any production material relating to any of his films. - BiographyAlbert S. Rogell (1901-1988) was an American director, producer, and screenwriter. He entered the film industry in 1916 when he got a job with the Washington Motion Picture Company. After the company went out of business, he decided to move to Hollywood, where he held a variety of jobs before joining George Loane Tucker's company. Rogell worked for Tucker until the latter's death, then freelanced before going on to direct shorts for Sol Lesser. His first documented credit is as a second cameraman on THE MIDLANDERS (1920), and his first feature as a director was THE GREATEST MENACE (1923). Over the years he directed such films as THE SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS (1928), THE BLACK CAT (1941), SONG OF INDIA (1949), and SHADOW OF FEAR (1956). In his later years, Rogell worked primarily in television production.
