The Harry B. Friedman papers span the years 1944-1968 and encompass 3 linear feet. The papers consist of production files on publicity campaigns conceived by Friedman. Each file contains carbon copies of press releases written by Friedman. Additional material includes official advertising credits, pressbook copy, production notes, studio biographies, captions for stills, newspaper clippings, and studio memoranda. Friedman's work for Universal and Warner Bros. is covered, along with one other film, THE SUNDOWNERS (1950). The more than 20 Universal films represented include THE SUSPECT (1945), THE KILLERS (1946), BRUTE FORCE (1947), ALL MY SONS (1948), and ONCE MORE, MY DARLING (1949). The more than 20 Warner Bros. films include SPRINGFIELD RIFLE (1952), DRAGNET (1954), A STAR IS BORN (1954), PETE KELLY'S BLUES (1955), NONE BUT THE BRAVE (1965), and A COVENANT WITH DEATH (1967). - BiographyHarry B. Friedman (1902-1994) was a staff publicist at Universal in the 1940s and at Warner Bros. in the 1950s and 1960s. A brief stint at Eagle-Lion included work on THE SUNDOWNERS (1950).
