The Edit Angold papers span the years 1935-1970 (bulk 1940s-1950s) and encompass 1.0 linear foot. The bulk of the collection is on Angold's theater, television, and radio work and consists of scripts, programs, and contracts. Aside from the contracts for films ranging from THE GREAT CARUSO (1951) to TWO WEEKS IN ANOTHER TOWN (1962), there is almost no material related to her screen appearances. - BiographyEdit Angold (1895-1971) was born Edit Goldstandt in Berlin and was educated there and in Geneva. Angold began her career on stage in Germany in the late 1910s as a character actress. She first came to the United States in 1924 and appeared in German stage productions in New York. Over the next several years Angold migrated between Germany and the United States, settling permanently in the States in 1932. In 1940 she took up residence in California, where she was active in film, television, radio, and theater. Her film credits include CAREER (1959), ESCAPE (1940), SUSPENSE (1946), and TOMORROW THE WORLD (1944).
