The company is named after the Victorian house in Riverside where Decker, Gribble and others communally resided.
In 1977, Decker and Gribble became fully dedicated promoting independent animated shorts from around the world. Spike and Mike's Festival of Animation (later named the Classic Festival of Animation) debuted in La Jolla, California and would go on to tour annually in cities and on college campuses throughout the United States and Canada, theatrically showcasing early films of Tim Burton, John Lasseter, Nick Park, Bill Plympton, Will Vinton, Brad Bird, and many others. Spike and Mike also produced and premiered many student films, including those of Pixar creatives Pete Docter and Andrew Stanton.
In 1990, Spike and Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation was established as an unrated, adult-themed version of the program and would serve as the initial platform for films such as Mike Judge's BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD shorts and the original uncensored South Park short THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS by Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
Decker would continue to serve as a promoter of the festivals following Mike Gribble's passing in 1994. Curated versions of the festivals were also packaged and released by Mellow Manor Productions on home video. Both the Classic and Sick & Twisted programs ran steadily into the early 2000s before switching to alternative distribution forms on television and digitally. - Acquisitions InformationDonation of Mellow Manor Productions, Inc., 2016
