One scrapbook (digital files only) documenting the rescuing of Nicola Lubitsch from the torpedoed ship S.S. Athenia in 1939. Digital copy of a Nicola Lubitsch scrapbook album designer Ali Hubert made for her father, director Ernst Lubitsch.
- BiographyNicola Lubitsch is the American daughter of Ernst Lubitsch and Vivan Gaye. She has appeared as an actress on Broadway and produced classical music programs for radio.
- Ernst Lubitsch was a German-born director, writer, producer, and actor active from 1912 to 1947. As a filmmaker, his work includes TROUBLE IN PARADISE, NINOTCHKA, THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER, and HEAVEN CAN WAIT, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Directing. In 1946 he received an honorary Academy Award for his distinguished contributions to the art of the motion picture.
