- BiographyBurt Lancaster was an American actor and producer active from 1946 until 1991. He formed the production company Hecht-Hill-Lancaster with Harold Hecht and James Hill for which he produced and starred in several notable films, primarily in the 1950s. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his work in ELMER GANTRY and was nominated in the same category for FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ, and ATLANTIC CITY, USA.
