The Ruth Myers costume design drawings collection consists of 536 production artworks. The production files consist entirely of watercolor costume design illustrations drawn by Ruth Myers. Highlights include illustrations of Raul Julia, Angelica Huston, and Christina Ricci for THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991), Anne Hathaway, and Cary Elwes for ELLA ENCHANTED (2004), Kim Basinger for L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (1997), and Pam Grier, Jason Robards, Jonathan Pryce, and Royal Dano for SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (1983). Nearly half of the drawings in the collection include fabric swatches, including a majority of the drawings for BLAZE (1989) and CONNIE AND CARLA (2004). Several drawings of Kim Basinger for L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (1997) include film stills of Basinger in costume. - BiographyRuth Myers is a costume designer from Manchester, England. She trained at the St. Martin’s College of Art in London and began her career at the Royal Court Theatre. Her first film was SMASHING TIME (1967) starring Michael York and Lynn Redgrave. After working in several productions in the U.K., she was persuaded by Gene Wilder to move to the U.S. where she collaborated on three of his films including WORLD’S GREATEST LOVER (1977). Among her notable film credits are THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991), CENTER STAGE (2000), ELLA ENCHANTED (2004), EMMA (1996), L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (1997), THE PAINTED VEIL (2006), and SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (1983). She was nominated for two Academy Awards in costume design for THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991) and EMMA (1996). Myers also received a BAFTA award nomination for L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (1997). In 2004 she won an Emmy for her work in the pilot episode for the tv show CARNIVALE (2003-2005).
