- BiographyDave Martin began his career in film as an usher in a Detroit movie theater in 1924. Within a decade, he moved to the Los Angeles area and found work in advertising and publicity, first at Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros., then at Twentieth Century-Fox, where he worked from 1934 to 1946. He then moved to the advertising and publicity department at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Martin remained with MGM until 1957, at which point he went to work as an account executive and ad designer for Cinema Arts. After resigning from Cinema Arts in 1961, he went to Walt Disney Productions, where he was responsible for the advertising campaigns for GUNFIGHT AT SANDOVAL (1961), THE HORSEMASTERS (1961), and GREYFRIERS BOBBY (1961), as well as preliminary copy and layouts for BABES IN TOYLAND (1961). He was a member of the Publicists Guild and was elected to the Executive Board of the Publicist’s Association Local 818 in 1963. Martin retired sometime in the 1960s.
