Collection of letters from Irene Sharaff to Andrea Weaver during and after the making of MOMMIE DEAREST (1981), for which Weaver served as women's costume supervisor.
- BiographyIrene Sharaff was an American costume designer active from 1938 to1983. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design nine times for such films as GUYS AND DOLLS, PORGY AND BESS, FLOWER DRUM SONG, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, and HELLO, DOLLY!, among others. She received the same award five times, for AN AMERICAN IN PARIS (shared with Orry-Kelly and Walter Plunkett), THE KING AND I, WEST SIDE STORY, CLEOPATRA (shared with Vittorio Nino Novarese and Renié), and WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? In 1955 she was nominated three times, for Best Costume Design for BRIGADOON, and twice for A STAR IS BORN for both Best Costume Design (shared with Jean Louis and Mary Ann Nyberg) and for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (shared with Malcolm C. Bert, Gene Allen, and George James Hopkins).
- Andrea Weaver is a costumer active from 1967 to 2007. Her credits as a costumer include THE STING, NEW YORK, NEW YORK, RAGING BULL, and WALK THE LINE. She also served as costume supervisor on HAROLD AND MAUDE and MOMMIE DEAREST, among others. Weaver had an extensive career in television as well, working as a costumer on such series as STAR TREK, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, and MY THREE SONS.
