- BiographyColleen Atwood is an American costume designer. Born in a small town in the state of Washington, she studied painting at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle and art at NYU. Atwood’s career began in the 1980s, and her first solo costume designer credit was the film FIRSTBORN (1984). She went on to work on films as diverse as LITTLE WOMEN (1994), GATTACA (1997), PLANET OF THE APES (2001), and INTO THE WOODS (2014). She is known for her close collaboration with director Tim Burton in numerous films, starting with EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990). She has been nominated for twelve Academy Awards and received four for her work on CHICAGO (2002), MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA (2005), ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010), and FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM (2016).
