The collection consists primarily of clippings, largely for a column she wrote titled "Hollywood from the Inside." The column was published in the "Toledo Blade," "Newark Star-Eagle," "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette" and various other newspapers. The collection also includes miscellaneous pictorial material.
- BiographyHelene Barclay was an American newspaper columnist, who began her career as a model and actress. She wrote under the name Virginia Helene and Helene Barclay, and was also known as Helene Haskin Toland. Her first marriage to illustrator McClelland Barclay ended in divorce in 1933. She was then married to cinematographer Gregg Toland from 1934 to 1945. During their marriage Toland received an Academy Award for cinematography for "Wuthering Heights" (1939). She was married to August Wilhelm Krause Jr. from 1958 until her death in 1980.
