The scrapbook contains correspondence, a synopsis, clippings and reviews, and photographs. Goni retained correspondence and photographs documenting his experience and also collected material related to the film’s reception in Argentina. Years later the material was assembled and compiled in scrapbook form by a younger brother, Carlos Alberto Goni Demarchi, and donated to the library by the subject's grandson.
- BiographySantos Goni was Consul General of Argentina in San Francisco from 1920 to 1927. He was invited to assist in the making of MY AMERICAN WIFE (1922) in the capacity of an advisor on Argentinean authenticity. Goni was the son of Basque immigrants from the Pamplona area who settled in Argentina in the 1880s. He became a journalist and newspaper editor in Buenos Aires. Goni came to the United States to gain firsthand knowledge of Hearst newspapers in San Francisco while serving as Consul General. He did not return to journalism, but continued his consular career in Europe and Latin America.
