- Summary
The collection contains some 26,000 sound recordings in the form of LPs, CDs, EPs, and 7-inch discs. In addition to comprehensive representation of music for feature films, the collection is particularly strong in coverage for documentaries, industrial films, and television. Included are picture discs and discs with colored vinyl, for example, purple vinyl for THE COLOR PURPLE (1986).
- BiographyBrad Bennett is an American art teacher and soundtrack collector. After leaving the Army in New York in 1949, he began collecting original cast recordings for stage musicals, and soon branched out to film and television soundtracks. He spent most of his teaching career as an art teacher at Manual Arts High School near downtown Los Angeles, followed by a stint at Hale Junior High School in Woodland Hills, followed by seven years at Marshall High School, where he was grade counselor, registrar, then dean of students. Upon retiring in 1981, Bennett went to work at Aron's Records in Los Angeles, where he spent more than a dozen years as the buyer of original cast and soundtrack albums.
