- Summary
The collection consists of 375 boxes amassed between the years 1972-2013 by way of donations to ASIFA from its members and other individuals and entities in the animation field. The collection does not include in-depth coverage of the activities of the organization itself, or of their annually-presented Annie Awards, as those records have been retained by the ASIFA-Hollywood administration.
Over many years, ASIFA-Hollywood received collections of material largely from professionals in the field of animation, or their families. Although contemporaneous acquisition records are not available, groups of related materials were generally kept together as received, which has made it possible, in large measure, for the Academy to retain such groups as discrete units within the larger scope of the ASIFA-Hollywood collection. For example, there are holdings related to the careers of Don Bluth, June Foray, Bill (William T.) Hurtz, Herbert Klynn, Bill Littlejohn, Helen Jordan and Darrell Van Citters. Several business organizations, including Filmation, Hanna-Barbera and Expanded Entertainment are also represented. - Scope notes
