More than 1,000 Japanese-language films are represented by ad mat plates, heralds, programs, and press sheets. Many of the programs were printed for the Kapahulu Theatre in Hawaii and followed the films to Los Angeles.. - BiographyThe Linda Lea Theater was located in downtown Los Angeles. The theater opened on Main Street as the Arrow Theater in 1924 and the following year became the Fuji-Kan. In 1947, after the Japanese American internment, the owners of the Fuji-Kan reopened the theater as the Linda Lea. The theater closed in the early 1980s and was demolished in 2007. The Linda Lea was one of the country’s premier exhibitors of Japanese movies and one of only three theaters in Los Angeles to screen Japanese language films. In its heyday in the 1960s, audiences visited the theater to see the latest films produced by the Toei Company.
- Toei Company is a Japanese film and television production and distribution company that also develops video games. The company was established in 1938 as Toyoko Eiga and was founded in its current form in 1951 following the incorporation of Tokyo Film Distribution Company and Ōizumi Films. Toei is known for its action, science fiction, and horror films, including the FEMALE CONVICT SCORPION series.
