The Edward Pisoni papers span the years 1982-1997. The collection includes both drawings and blueprints for nineteen films on which Pisoni served as either art director or production designer. Titles include THE VERDICT (1982), TRUE COLORS (1991), THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO (1985), THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE (1992), SLAYGROUND (1984) and WISE GUYS (1986). - BiographyEdward Pisoni (1943-2020) was born in St. Louis, Missouri and received a Masters degree in fine art from Carnegie-Mellon University. After teaching set design at Eastern Illinois University and Illinois Wesleyan University, Pisoni moved to New York City in 1973. For the next four years, Pisoni assisted several stage designers, among them Tony Walton with whom Pisoni later worked on several film productions including THE WIZ (1978) and ALL THAT JAZZ (1979). Pisoni received credit as an art director for CRUISING (1980), THE KING OF COMEDY (1983) and THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO (1985) among others. His first credit as a production designer was on Sidney Lumet’s THE VERDICT (1982). Since that time, Pisoni has been credited as the production designer on films including WISE GUYS (1986), STEEL MAGNOLIAS (1989), TRUE COLORS (1991) and THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE (1992) as well as the pilot for the television series THE SOPRANOS.
