Graphic Arts
The Poster collection contains posters from the earliest days of motion pictures to the present. The collection is international in scope, with an emphasis on American films, including independent and short films. While many examples are American one-sheets, the collection includes many oversize formats such as twenty-four sheets and French 8 panneaux (160” x 120”). Among the holdings are very early examples of wood block prints advertising the activity of seeing a moving picture, original poster-paintings and one-sheet posters for current film releases. The repository continues to add materials to this collection on a regular basis. - Subjects
