- BiographyWilliam Faulkner was an American writer active from 1925 until his death in 1962. As a Hollywood screenwriter, his work included screenplays for TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT and THE BIG SLEEP as well as uncredited work on GUNGA DIN and MILDRED PIERCE. Several of his novels and short stories were adapted into films as well. In 1949 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
