- Summary
The collection contains motion picture production photographs, largely for films released by United Artists; biography photographs; and subject photographs. Films represented include CITY LIGHTS (1931), THE GOLD RUSH (1925) THE GREAT DICTATOR (1940), THE KID (1921), and MODERN TIMES (1936). The biography series includes photographs of Charles Chaplin with Douglas Fairbanks, Mabel Normand, D.W. Griffith, Paulette Goddard, and others.
The Library borrowed source materials from Jeffrey Vance and made prints. Vance obtained most of these materials from Association Chaplin, and they required that we retain our reproductions together as a collection and to acknowledge Association Chaplin. - BiographyCharles Chaplin, best known as Charlie Chaplin, was a British-born actor and filmmaker. He received a 1972 Honorary Award from the Academy.
