- Summary
The collection consists of 215 audiocassette recordings of interviews with director Ronald Neame and many of his associates and collaborators, along with related transcripts and interview notes. Most of the interviews were conducted by Barbara Roisman Cooper, Neame's co-author on his autobiography, "Straight from the Horse's Mouth," published in 2003.
- BiographyBarbara Roisman Cooper is an American freelance writer specializing in celebrity profiles. She took up writing after retiring as a television production manager and teacher of English and film studies.
- Ronald Neame was a British director, producer, writer, and cinematographer active from 1929 to 1990. He began his career as an assistant cameraman on BLACKMAIL and went on to serve as cinematographer on such films as THIS HAPPY BREED and BLITHE SPIRIT. His diverse directing career included TUNES OF GLORY, I COULD GO ON SINGING, THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE, SCROOGE, and THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE. He was nominated for an Academy Award three times, first for Special Effects for ONE OF OUR AIRCRAFT IS MISSING, shared with C.C. Stevens, then twice for Best Writing, Screenplay for BRIEF ENCOUNTER and GREAT EXPECTATIONS, both shared with Anthony Havelock-Allan and David Lean.
