The five albums contain photographs and other background research materials for four Warner Bros. films: CONFESSIONS OF A NAZI SPY (1939), HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN (1944), HOTEL BERLIN (1945), and PASSAGE TO MARSEILLE (1944). There are two volumes on CONFESSIONS OF A NAZI SPY. The albums were compiled between 1939 and 1944 and contain material dating back as early as 1913. There are also two bound scripts, with stills, for THE ADVENTURES OF MARK TWAIN (1944) and CONFESSIONS OF A NAZI SPY.
- BiographyHerman Lissauer was an American researcher and technical advisor active in film from 1936 to 1946. Before becoming a researcher, he served as a rabbi in San Francisco, then Los Angeles. He was the founder and director of the Modern Forum of Beverly Hills, established in the late 1920s. In the mid-1930s Lissauer met Jack Warner through the Forum and became the head of the research department at Warner Bros.
