- BiographyElsie Albert Matthews was an American actress most active in film from 1910 to 1917. From the stage in New York she made her way into Edison and Kalem films. From 1912 she was with the Universal company and director Harold Clarke Matthews, often credited as H. C. Matthews. She and Matthews were married in 1914.
