The Core Collection Production files span the years 1895 to the present and encompass approximately 3,380 linear feet. The files include newspaper and magazine clippings, including articles and reviews; cast and credit sheets; synopses; and studio production notes, as well as programs, pressbooks, lobby cards, and photographs. In addition to files on American and foreign feature films, there are files on live-action and animated shorts, documentaries, and experimental films. There are also a significant number of files on film projects that were never completed or released. The material is arranged alphabetically by film title.

Photograph Archive
The Core Collection Production photographs span the years 1895 to the present and encompass approximately 1,400 linear feet, consisting of files on thousands of films, including prints, contact sheets, and frame enlargements. The photographs include scene stills, off-camera stills, publicity portraits, advertising art, production sketches, set reference photographs, wardrobe reference, and makeup tests. The material is arranged alphabetically by title. There is a particularly disparate number of photographs from title to title. For instance, the file for THE LIFE OF AN AMERICAN FIREMAN (1902) contains one photograph; SEVEN SAMURAI (1954) contains 11; ALL ABOUT EVE (1950) contains 129; and LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962) contains 2,813. - Preferred citationCore Collection.
